It is as if several elements - water, air and flame - have joined together. Look at the intricate pattern of the lines - some will see a flower, some a butterfly, some a flying cloth or even a woman..... Only one colour of calligraphic ink is used in the painting - this intensifies the perception of the pattern's structure. The density of the dark indigo layer from completely transparent to a thicker shade of stormy sky adds volume and depth to the painting. From certain angles its image seems to extend beyond the limits of the canvas.
