The handkerchief is a small wardrobe item with a rich history.

The invention of the handkerchief is attributed to King Richard of England, who was bothered by the bad manners of his subjects who blotted their sleeves and halves of their clothes. Richard then ostentatiously set an example by using a piece of cloth. Quite soon the accessory was seen as vital to every self-respecting man.

The famous English poet Lord Byron, argued that every respectable gentleman should have at least fifteen hundred handkerchiefs in his arsenal. You can't argue with Byron!
Especially if the handkerchief is decorated with a real painting, like in our collection!
Today, the use of this accessory is limited only by the imagination of its owner. A small handkerchief can elegantly decorate a woman's wrist, handbag, breast pocket and even shoes.
